The sun was shining, the winds were calm, the water was a bit choppy: all par for the course on the mighty Ottawa River! Team Triumph had a great turnout of swimmers and volunteers. Thank you to Martin and Nancy St Germain's husband Paul for supporting the swimmers in their kayaks.
In its 13th year, BOTB is a really well-organized event with sailboats lined up every 100 meters. Great volunteers, food, and fun all around. We had three podium finishes today!
Congratulations to our new swim coach Mike Olsen who won his age category and posted the fastest Team Triumph time of the day at 53:12! He was also our eldest competitor at 76 and posted a personal best time for this event! He is keen to share his swim coaching skills with Team Triumph so please get in touch!
Joanne Dawes came in 1st in her age group having completed her first 1500m swim with her niece by her side. She debated doing the event but conquered it and won, having taken her wetsuit off halfway!
Monique Beland has taken a break from cycling and running to recover from a back injury and worked hard at her swimming over the past 6 months. She came in 2nd in her age category today! Well done!
Sophie Dagenais came in 4th in her very competitive swimmer's category, just missing the podium. Next up for Sophie: the 12km swim in Lac Tremblant.
Congrats to our top 10 finishers and Everyone Who Triumphed Today!

A year ago I could only tread water and had not run since childhood. With the amazing Virtual Olympic course, support, guidance, and tips from of all the folks at Team Triumph I've ended the season with my first Olympic distance triathlon under my belt and am hooked! Really looking forward to the 2025 season and even to the hard work over the winter to prepare. Karen Houle
I wanted to let you know that the Perth triathlon was a great experience, I somehow placed third in my age group! What a supportive group of participants (including Team Triumph athletes), cheering bystanders and volunteers.
Thanks to your swim lessons, I learned the technical basics and gained confidence to get back in the pool after decades. And it was really special doing this with Ann Laidlaw, my bestie for many years. We did a couple of additional swims with Kevin and Team Triumph people, also a great way to continue learning and practicing good technical form.
I will continue with lane swimming and who knows, maybe there's another triathlon in my future!
I love the accountability and the structure of the Virtual 70.3 Half Ironman training program. I don't think I would have gotten this far without the program. The accountability is huge for me!
