Once this decision was made, the coaches and I started discussions on contingency plans for our members to be sure that they can have a reasonably stress-free time while they are self-isolating or social distancing in order to do their part in slowing down the spread of the virus.
We felt a good option was virtual training via Facebook Live. We sent out a schedule and launched our first Facebook live strength training class on Sunday, March 16 with great success! Since then we have done Yoga for Athletes and Cycling on Zwift. On Wednesday and Saturday at 9am we plan to do a group spin class on FB Live. All you have to have is a your laptop open and any kind of stationary bike and you can join! On Sunday we will be having a virtual St Paddy’s 10km Race and posting the results on Strava.
While we want to help our members, we thought that we would like to extend the invitation for some of the scheduled Facebook lives to the surrounding community, so that others could take part. We are all in this together. Please follow our Facebook page @teamtriumphottawa to see what classes will be taking place in the coming weeks. We would love to have you join us.
Another area that COVID19 is affecting is our local businesses. Please consider supporting your local business in any way that you can. They are going to be hit hard and need our support. We have many business owners in our Team Triumph family so we are highlighting one a week with suggestions on ways that we can help support them. This week we are supporting Anna Belanger’s massage clinics by asking members to buy a gift card that they can use at a future date. www.annbelanger.com. Please consider doing that in your community as well.
“I don't want to live in the kind of world where we don't look out for each other. Not just the people that are close to us, but anybody who needs a helping hand. I can’t change the way anybody else thinks, or what they choose to do, but I can do my bit.”― charles de lint

A year ago I could only tread water and had not run since childhood. With the amazing Virtual Olympic course, support, guidance, and tips from of all the folks at Team Triumph I've ended the season with my first Olympic distance triathlon under my belt and am hooked! Really looking forward to the 2025 season and even to the hard work over the winter to prepare. Karen Houle
I wanted to let you know that the Perth triathlon was a great experience, I somehow placed third in my age group! What a supportive group of participants (including Team Triumph athletes), cheering bystanders and volunteers.
Thanks to your swim lessons, I learned the technical basics and gained confidence to get back in the pool after decades. And it was really special doing this with Ann Laidlaw, my bestie for many years. We did a couple of additional swims with Kevin and Team Triumph people, also a great way to continue learning and practicing good technical form.
I will continue with lane swimming and who knows, maybe there's another triathlon in my future!
I love the accountability and the structure of the Virtual 70.3 Half Ironman training program. I don't think I would have gotten this far without the program. The accountability is huge for me!
