It was great to see so many people out and about this past week. Pascale Savard completed a Spartan Challenge. Luc Lapensee did the Perth double distance duathlon. France Girard completed the Perth Triathlon and even did an open water swim at Britannia! Coach Julia also did the Perth Tri but opted for swim strength instead. Julie McInnes set out to walk 10km a day and complete 500km of walking. I was so happy to be outside when she walked by my house the day she finished the 500km!
Pascale Savard took a break from sewing masks to complete the
Spartan Challenge!
With the Tremblant Half Iron challenge coming up, Anita Taylor and Glen Paradis were busy getting their long bricks done. Sophie Dagenais and Debi Zaret did the Triathlon Canadian National cycling series last week on Fulgaz and placed 8th and 10th overall on the Stanley Park course.
It was nice to see Louise Lewis-James back on the roads running and in the woods cycling again. Congratulations to Anna and Marc Belanger, and Robert Browne and Jenn Kellar on their new homes and welcome to my neighborhood! Can't wait until we can all meet-up in the Pond (which, sadly, is still closed).
It was great to hear from Brad Vlaming this week that the shoutout from Steve Swanwick worked! Brad jumped back onto Zwift on Thursday night! It was also great to welcome new member Bruno Baril from Petawawa onto the Thursday night virtual community rides. Welcome back to Ottawa to Janet Whitley and her family who just drove back from Salt Spring Island where they took shelter from the pandemic for the past few months. It was nice to see teammates Claude Pilette and Debi Zaret out swimming and running together in Tremblant last week. I saw that France St-Denis got her canoe out on the water and enjoyed some paddling time!
Debi and Claude met up for a physical distance run and a swim in Mt Tremblant

A year ago I could only tread water and had not run since childhood. With the amazing Virtual Olympic course, support, guidance, and tips from of all the folks at Team Triumph I've ended the season with my first Olympic distance triathlon under my belt and am hooked! Really looking forward to the 2025 season and even to the hard work over the winter to prepare. Karen Houle
I wanted to let you know that the Perth triathlon was a great experience, I somehow placed third in my age group! What a supportive group of participants (including Team Triumph athletes), cheering bystanders and volunteers.
Thanks to your swim lessons, I learned the technical basics and gained confidence to get back in the pool after decades. And it was really special doing this with Ann Laidlaw, my bestie for many years. We did a couple of additional swims with Kevin and Team Triumph people, also a great way to continue learning and practicing good technical form.
I will continue with lane swimming and who knows, maybe there's another triathlon in my future!
I love the accountability and the structure of the Virtual 70.3 Half Ironman training program. I don't think I would have gotten this far without the program. The accountability is huge for me!
