Ottawa Race Weekend: A Personal Best for Luc Lapensée at 55!

The Ottawa Race Weekend (ORW) saw a strong showing from our Ottawa Triathlon Club members! Among them, long-time member Luc Lapensée proved that age is just a number, achieving a personal best (PB) in the 10km race. This accomplishment comes after years of dedication to training and racing, including Luc's recent Tokyo Marathon victory, which earned him the coveted World Marathon Majors medal.

Luc's Thrilling Race Report:
In Luc's own words:

"Participating in the Ottawa Race Weekend is always a thrilling experience, and this year was no exception. This is my Home Race, and I am ecstatic to share that I achieved a personal best in the 10 km race, crossing the finish line in a record time of 41:06!"

His impressive results included:

  • Overall Ranking: 233 out of 6899 participants
  • Men's Category: 182 out of 3759 runners
  • Age Category: 9 out of 299 competitors

Keys to Luc's Success:
Luc attributes his continued improvement to several factors:

  • Expert Coaching: He credits Coach Julia's meticulously crafted training plan for his progress, allowing him to balance work, family, training, and enjoyment.
  • Nutritional Focus: Transitioning to a pesco-vegetarian diet 2.5 years ago, combined with managing his gluten intolerance, has significantly impacted his performance.
  • Injury Management: Exercise plays a vital role in reducing Luc's arthritis symptoms, and the expertise of his physiotherapist, Renée LeBlanc of Moveo Physio in Orleans, keeps him in top form.

Gratitude and Shared Victories:
Luc expresses his heartfelt gratitude to Coach Julia, Team Triumph for their unwavering support, and physiotherapist Renée LeBlanc. He also extends a special shoutout to his wife, Marie Nathalie Moreau, for her strong race, and his friend Alain Rodrigue, for his inspiring comeback.

A Memorable Race Weekend:
The Ottawa Race Weekend was a testament to personal achievement and shared victories. Luc looks forward to continuing his journey of growth, on and off the track, with the support of his incredible team and loved ones.

Congratulations, Luc!
The Ottawa Triathlon Club is incredibly proud of Luc's accomplishment. His dedication and commitment are an inspiration to all our members!
