LUC LAPENSÉE
TEAM TRIUMPH 2025
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD WINNER
Luc has been a familiar and friendly face at Team Triumph for more than 10 years, making his mark as both a duathlete and marathon runner. His outstanding athletic achievements have inspired many, but Luc is equally celebrated for his unwavering encouragement and support within the club. He is always quick to offer congratulations or motivating words to his teammates through social media, embodying the true spirit of sportsmanship.
Luc’s journey into athletics did not begin with running. He pursued Junior A hockey and karate during his formative years, earning a black belt in kickboxing. Additionally, Luc’s talents extend to softball too!
Luc ventured into endurance sports in 2008, participating in 5k races. Two years later, in 2010, he added cycling to his repertoire, tackling events such as Rideau Lakes and various Grand Fondos. By 2012, Luc took on duathlons and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, demonstrating his adventurous spirit and commitment to pushing his limits.
Over the past 13 years, Luc has completed more than 40 races, earning multiple podium finishes. In 2013, he ran his first marathon in Ottawa. Since then, his marathon journey has taken him to Berlin, New York, Paris, Chicago, Petit Train du Nord, Boston, London, Victoria, and Tokyo. Notably, during the COVID pandemic, Luc undertook a solo 60km ultra marathon. His completion of the Tokyo Marathon earned him the Abbott World Majors Medal, signifying his achievement of finishing all six world major marathons.
In 2025, Luc challenged himself further by running the New York and Chicago marathons just three weeks apart. Not only did he complete both, but he also qualified for the Boston Marathon, showcasing his exceptional endurance and determination.
While it may seem premature to present Luc with a Lifetime Achievement Award, it is important to recognise his significant accomplishments and the example he sets for others. Luc epitomises good sportsmanship and teamwork at Team Triumph, and there is no doubt that he will continue to pursue new challenges and inspire those around him.
Congratulations, Luc!
I would highly recommended Eric and Team Triumph!

A year ago I could only tread water and had not run since childhood. With the amazing Virtual Olympic course, support, guidance, and tips from of all the folks at Team Triumph I've ended the season with my first Olympic distance triathlon under my belt and am hooked! Really looking forward to the 2025 season and even to the hard work over the winter to prepare. Karen Houle
I wanted to let you know that the Perth triathlon was a great experience, I somehow placed third in my age group! What a supportive group of participants (including Team Triumph athletes), cheering bystanders and volunteers.
Thanks to your swim lessons, I learned the technical basics and gained confidence to get back in the pool after decades. And it was really special doing this with Ann Laidlaw, my bestie for many years. We did a couple of additional swims with Kevin and Team Triumph people, also a great way to continue learning and practicing good technical form.
I will continue with lane swimming and who knows, maybe there's another triathlon in my future!
