AM I TRIATHLON RACE READY?
It is completely normal for athletes to wonder whether they are truly prepared for their race in the weeks leading up to the big day. Even though we always encourage athletes to follow their training plan and trust the process, it is only natural to question your own preparedness. As race nerves begin to settle in and the taper phase starts, you may be tempted to squeeze in extra training sessions ‘just in case’. However, this urge to add more training is actually counterproductive and can do more harm than good.
Instead of increasing training during the taper, a smarter approach is to do a race simulation. Practicing on your actual race course is an excellent way to gauge your readiness and build the confidence needed to begin your taper. Experiencing the course first-hand helps to reduce anxiety and provides valuable insight into your strengths.
On Friday at our Tremblant Training Camp, fourteen campers finished their training on the course feeling confident and prepared for race day! Their fear surrounding the famous hills of Tremblant is genuine, but these athletes discovered that the hills were not as daunting as expected, thanks to their dedicated training. Crushing the hills provided a significant confidence boost.
The atmosphere at Tremblant was fantastic! (see photos below) We witnessed athletes beaming with joy as they came off Duplessis, having achieved impressive power output and speedy performances. The satisfaction they felt after their runs, knowing they can tackle the race, was truly inspiring. Congratulations to all the athletes who participated in Tremblant, and heartfelt thanks to Coach Gabi, Coach Mike, and Martin, our Director of Logistics and Humour, for their guidance and support on the course.
Now, as the race approaches, it’s time to embrace the taper phase. Prioritise rest, eat healthily, and get ready to give your best on race day!

A year ago I could only tread water and had not run since childhood. With the amazing Virtual Olympic course, support, guidance, and tips from of all the folks at Team Triumph I've ended the season with my first Olympic distance triathlon under my belt and am hooked! Really looking forward to the 2025 season and even to the hard work over the winter to prepare. Karen Houle
I wanted to let you know that the Perth triathlon was a great experience, I somehow placed third in my age group! What a supportive group of participants (including Team Triumph athletes), cheering bystanders and volunteers.
Thanks to your swim lessons, I learned the technical basics and gained confidence to get back in the pool after decades. And it was really special doing this with Ann Laidlaw, my bestie for many years. We did a couple of additional swims with Kevin and Team Triumph people, also a great way to continue learning and practicing good technical form.
I will continue with lane swimming and who knows, maybe there's another triathlon in my future!
